Paintballing

Here are some pictures of the very successful paintballing birthday party Eyad had on Sunday!

It was intense, and I am just so glad I decided NOT to participate this time! I left Joe to do the honours and somehow think he didnt mind! He even won the much sought after award "best dad of the day!!!"

In return I had to cook, which was a very small price to pay!

All in all it was a huge success and their faces say it all, however Joe didnt stay for long enough but work was calling and Joe if you are reading this thank you bro..

Hajajat

Ok, havent posted anything for the last week as was hoping to post some good news..The news that perhaps I will be in employment again..

However, no news yet, I would like to say that no news is good news but somehow I don't think so! Will just have to keep trying.

On a brighter note I met an old family friend whom you could also perhaps call a relative? Anyway just wanted to share a word that brought a huge smile to my face when I heard it and yes you guessed it, it is HAJAJAT!!! the older term for hawajeb! In other words eyebrows..Gosh I haven't heard that word in over 13 years I love hearing old style Libyan lingo it just brings back fond memories.

Joe is arriving tomorrow and wants me to cook bamia for him, and I will, just because he is driving all this way just to take Eyad paintballing with 6 of his friends for his birthday on Sunday..I will just sit and wait for them as he took me paintballing last year and I did not enjoy it!

No news

I still havent had the news yet, I was told I would have to wait until Thursday which is tomorrow.

However, am optimistic..Now am off to make our favourite meal COUS-COUS!! For anyone who is interested and from the Sharq! adding brussel sprouts and cabbage to the sauce is amazing..It goes really well with the butternut squash (which I use instead of pumpkin)..Am also going to have a go at making msaiyer!! Have not had that in years..

Finally shahi kadr and listen to some majrouda and yes I am almost in our kitchen in Benghazi...sigh...........

Still can't figure out how to post pictures on this thing as everytime I attach a picture it doesnt come out on the blog? Will see if I can post one of the meal just so that my dear brother can fantasize!!

That Monday feeling

  • Cut the grass
  • Decided on a bike
  • Did the ironing
  • Cooked macarona jaria for dinner!

More importantly, went to TK Maxx and bagged a bargain, yes a table lamp that was reduced from 49 pounds to 14 pounds. I just love a bargain..

Decided to change my blog from Shiam to Shi-Shi, it has been a long time since I have been called Shi-Shi as I have gotten used to being called Shiam, but Shi-Shi is a name I assosiate with growing up back home where I have fond memories so Shi-Shi it is!

Now hopefully tomorrow I will get that good news I have been waiting for, fingers crossed but hey ho if not it isn't the end of the world, although whatever I say now i know I will still be dissapointed if I dont get it.

Inspiration

Now this has blog has been a long time coming, but for various reasons has been put on hold. However after being inspired by a certain person (Hannu!) I have decided to go ahead and start ranting! Now the reasons vary from cultural (dont really mind what people think anymore!!! shock horror!) to worrying that I have nothing interesting to write about. Age as in maturity!! and inspiration from my fellow bloggers inside Libya or out like me, are now part of my daily routine and my main connection to Libya and have given me the motivation to start ranting.

Won't make this too long, but also just want to say that I rented Julie and Julia last night and although didnt think it was as amazing as it could have been thought wow I should start blogging! Meryl Streep is just such an amazing actress.

It is a bank holiday here so if the sun stays out am going to go and cut the grass and then treck down to Halfords with Eyad to look at some bikes..his birthday is on the 11th and when we came back from Canada in the summer did not ship his bike over, which I would say to anyone who is moving country and planning on shipping stuff do not leave bikes behind...

As anyone who is reading this will soon find out I am new to this and have lost my posting 6 times today (as a draft) so if anything silly is published be aware.
