LIBYA IS BLEEDING

What can I say?????? Words are not enough my heart bleeds for my beloved country and people, who deserve so much more then this sad excuse of a human being.

Libya is bleeding while the world watches, I AM SO PROUD TO BE CALLED A LIBYAN AND A LIBYAN FROM BENGHAZI.

I so wish I could do more, and would just like to say to my mum when she gets the chance to read this and is reconnected with the civilised world Mama: I am so proud of you and wish I could do more for you and for my country.

spare time and "the office"

It has been just under a week since my last post, and guess what I have more time on my hands then I have had in a longgggggggggggggg time! Why may you ask? Well Eyad who normally takes up my Saturday morning at football and Sunday morning at Rugby and evenings spent doing homework and ferrying to various activities is still not back.

I miss him alot, however this week I have gone to bed really early as the house is all tidy and overslept in the morning (first time in ages) guess when you are responsible for someone else you are more alert!!!I had to say to work that I was stuck in traffic!

Now work, work has been fun this week and has been funner since I am now used to the work involved. This week one of our colleagues (Senior Manager) who has BAD BO had a freak out/ melt down!! The day before his freak out I made a point of wingeing about the stench which seemed to be getting worse to some of my colleagues!! As it turns out they said that this has been a problem for years with him and he has actually been told about it in the past...However, he has admitted to everyone that he only baths twice a week as he used to be a hippie which as it is getting colder now and with the heating on must be reduced down to once every couple of weeks i think!!!

Now for the funny part, we were all working at our desks in the sales office when he suddenly burst in to the office waveing this piece of paper (A4) which had big bold words typed on to it! screaming and ranting this is discusting read this read this shoving it in front of everyones face, as it turned out he had gone out for a walk and someone had typed up a letter telling him that he had bad BO and that he had to sort it out! Well I had a very insensitive moment and started to giggle while trying to look serious, but I couldn't help it as it was actually quite funny, as if that was me I would have wanted to crawl under my desk and hide instead of telling everyone about the note...Not only that he actually asked people if it was true, and one of the girls admitted to him that sometimes he did smell. His answer to that was that he had had a bath the day before!!!OMG how unreal are some people? For a moment it could have been a scene from "the office". Well people started looking at me asking if i had done it? I suppose I understand their suspicions what with my complaining the day before and my smiles, but I would never have the guts to slip a note under someones door in a busy office but I think he needed that message now lets see if he starts washing, so watch this space and I will keep you updated...

Am off to see if I can straighten my hair, as have just bought myself a pair of straightners! (a luxury most working mums dont have time for!)

Before that I would just like to say to Hannu, missed reading your blog and so glad to see that you too are busy...

How time flies

I can't believe it is alomst 4 months since I last posted.

Ramadan has come and gone, I have finished my probation period at work, Eyad is now in comp and winter is almost here.

I will start with Ramadan, it was a killer this year with fatour at 9.00pm at the beggining it was tough but got better towards the end. Mama came to stay for part of it which was just amazing however work would not give me time off which meant I couldn't spend alot of Ramadam time with her. Got Arabic tv which also gave us a sense of home..

Eyad started comprehensive school in September, he is growing fast and bringing complicated math homework home...

Winter is almost upon us, quite chilly now in the evening and comfort food time! I am more or less settled in work, and unfortunately dont have time to post as most of my spare time is spent driving Eyad to his activities after work and of course the obligitory weekend standing in the rain matches!

Eyad has gone to visit his dad for half term, which means i feel a bit lost without him as Sunday evenings are normally spent with me doing homework/ironing school uniforms for the week, and planning the week aheads menu. I am missing him lots but hope he has a good time.

Its the weekend!!!

Its Saturday night, and already the dreaded tomorrow is Sunday get ready for the week is approaching!
However, I will not complain as I am loving being back at work. Eyad breaks up from school on Tuesday, and I feel for him as I am not able to take leave anytime soon while I am on my 3 months probation period.

I now have to find something for him to do, maybe surfing school or tennis (which is what he would rather do) in addition to his swimming at the weekend. I have a feeling it will be a long summer for him especially with Ramadan fast approaching, the days will be long as at the moment is doesnt start getting dark till almost 10 in the evening.
Hopefully mama will be able to come and stay for a while, which of course means Joe too will come!

Read Anglo Libyans post about renewing his Libyan passport and it fills me with dread as I too need to do the honors!! Mine is not too bad as it has only been 3 years since I last renewed!! However, i know for a fact that it will not be plain sailing and it makes me both sad and angry that our own country makes it as difficult as they can for us, and as he rightly mentioned they make up the rules as they go along. People here get so excited about going on (holiday) after working hard all year round, yet somehow the whole process turns in to a nightmare for us before we even go and the sad thing is that we still want to because deep down it is "home" for us and I would like Eyad too to have that connection of home.

Almost 2 months later!!!

Ok it has been a longggg time since I last posted anything due to various issues and commitments, however almost 2 months to the day from my last post of May 5th I have received the news I had been waiting for and that is that I am starting work on Monday..HOORAY it has been a very trying time looking and applying for work, and to be honest job hunting is made worse during thes difficult economic times.

Don't know if I will be able to blog to begin with as time will be tight and I will be working full time and long hours too. Will definetely try and carry on ranting as I am sure I will have plenty to write about. It has been almost 3 years exactly since I was last working at Qatar Airways in London and that was a job I loved and felt comfortable doing, however now the industry I have gone in to is more of a challenge and I wonder how long it will take me to settle?

Don't know if anyone can concur with me on this but amazingly I was more organised while working then I have been not working!! Can't wait to get back in to work mode..Must go now as have 101 things to do on my list..

Paintballing

Here are some pictures of the very successful paintballing birthday party Eyad had on Sunday!

It was intense, and I am just so glad I decided NOT to participate this time! I left Joe to do the honours and somehow think he didnt mind! He even won the much sought after award "best dad of the day!!!"

In return I had to cook, which was a very small price to pay!

All in all it was a huge success and their faces say it all, however Joe didnt stay for long enough but work was calling and Joe if you are reading this thank you bro..

Hajajat

Ok, havent posted anything for the last week as was hoping to post some good news..The news that perhaps I will be in employment again..

However, no news yet, I would like to say that no news is good news but somehow I don't think so! Will just have to keep trying.

On a brighter note I met an old family friend whom you could also perhaps call a relative? Anyway just wanted to share a word that brought a huge smile to my face when I heard it and yes you guessed it, it is HAJAJAT!!! the older term for hawajeb! In other words eyebrows..Gosh I haven't heard that word in over 13 years I love hearing old style Libyan lingo it just brings back fond memories.

Joe is arriving tomorrow and wants me to cook bamia for him, and I will, just because he is driving all this way just to take Eyad paintballing with 6 of his friends for his birthday on Sunday..I will just sit and wait for them as he took me paintballing last year and I did not enjoy it!
